Shree: The Architect
Shree: The Architect
One does not require to know ‘everything’
or all dmensions of existence to act on a situation. Same is in the case with
architecture. Architecture can stem from desire or control, or a causal
relationship or empathy/ love or philosophy – trigger is internal and perhaps
not what one ‘sees’ outside. In any case what one ‘sees’ is a function of
internal state of mind and hence that is what one ought to focus on – not on
any external form.
As architects, one can read and
conceive a situation – one doesn’t need to know the history of form behind it.
One can also design, synthesis and analyse a situation in a fresh manner wihout
adhering or confirming to any baggages of the past or worries of the future.
Synthesis and analysis is a unique and a fresh idea based on the individual and
there is no standard framework for the same. One may read books or write or see
or design – whatever the case, one can ‘do’ architecture in any given state.
The idea of context and
transcendence and synthesis comes to the architect in different ways of perception,
not necessarily logical or sequential or historical or cultural or academic or
any given dimension. This is the architect’s position and is diferent from
other fields. Architect’s challenges, dilemmas and effort to synthesize are
different and in undertaking the process of design, that is exactly he/she is
engaging the self.
