Humans and AI

There was an article on Artificial Intelligence, and much is going to be said in the near future. The point at which ‘I’ exist, can be looked at after some years and questioned how much has changed in terms of situation and technology and the manner in which, one thinks.

The rate of change is so fast, that the ground on which we stand or perceive is shifting fast. Things that appeared rather simple, that were perceived in black and white appear complex with shades of grey and one can’t really take a position on anything. There isn’t clarity and there is just noise.

A fundamental question comes – why do we exist and for whom and for what? The question is about ‘memory’ – of remembrance, continuity and change (and the rate of adapting to change). This requires deliberation – who changes, what changes, how are things perceived and who are we? What is the phenomenon of thoughts and what do they tell us about Form or Matter? What is real and what is unreal? Anything that goes in my mind – is it really true? What is meaning of life and for whom do we exist? I keep writing these things and post it on blog and I believe that this is the only thing that will remain till the end – for the benefit of anybody. And this is not the first time this has been said, neither this state of mind has not occurred before, nor this situation. It could possibly have happened to other people of other time and other place a billion times before and what I say now is nothing really new. From this perspective, my perception of life, although peculiar to me, is not new (as an idea of perception).

Anything can be said as existing as Consciousness – manifesting into Space-Force-Matter. All coming from the same source. The moment there is vibration in consciousness (or a movement/ momentum); there is manifestation of Space-Time fabric. At a human level, this manifestation is seen as Soul-Mind-Matter. What I consider as a physiological body, is also perceived as a skin that perceives the environment because of our mind, which itself is a ‘form’ of force.

The issue with AI, is that it converts and sees everything as ‘data’. The variables are so complex and so interdependent and so tiny (as a scale of time), that in the maze of ever changing data, feelings, notions, assumptions, instincts, have no place for recognition or even acceptance.

The idea of ‘data’ is units of information that are sequenced or related to create an impression of the situation. Conversely, any situation can be described as billion units of data. The issue is, how does an AI sequence data or relate data? There are billion ways, so billion possibilities and billion answers.

Compare this situation with a human consciousness. Humans perceive situations by thoughts – again bits of thoughts (data). These bits are related or sequence based on a personal nature of ‘momentum’ he/she is born with. That determines the manner in which a person perceives and responds to a situation. In this exercise, the person’s perception can make him/her read the situation from bad to good. A human being therefore can comprehend three things of reality:

(1)    Situation is relative to the person. If situation looks troublesome, he/she should work on one’s mind and respond. Situation is neutral. It is the mind that creates judgement.

(2)    The person and the situation are not separate. Anything that constitutes a situation (any life form, other person) is related to me. So my actions have ethical dimensions.

(3)    The mind can expand to transcend the constructed barriers of mind and body and hence a situation need not be fought. The vibrations that make up the thoughts can be curtailed to experience bliss.

In comparing the manner of handling AI and human consciousness, the difference lies in intent. Currently, human being’s intent is complex and imbued with feelings and intellect. This is not the case with AI and that is the reason this technology, which alters the thought seems worrisome, since it alters our perception to the extent that we become clueless of what we are and what does it mean to be human.

AI may have technical advantages, but what about changes in our perception because of reliance on AI? This needs serious thinking.
