Position

Position

All ideas/ thoughts constituting existence are embedded in place + time matrix. There is no such thought that can break the boundaries formed from the perception of place and time.

In abstract sense, a definite “position” in a given space in the universe is perceived only by characteristics of “place” and “time”. Time is generated because of being located in a given place (or in other words, ‘time’ is an inherent dimension of the place). Similarly, time doesn’t have an independent existence – it is seen in relation to a place. Taken together, both these phenomena constitute the manifested world (which includes our thoughts as well).

What is the way in which we can understand this relativity?

One way is to dissect our own thoughts and observe from where they are coming and going, how they are generating more thoughts and what are the chief ingredients of thoughts? And why do thoughts occur and change? The journey inwards will lead you to two observations among many – (1) Thoughts are created in the vacuum/ void/ space. Thoughts represent the perception of place and time. The void/ space (from where the thoughts seem to come) is timeless and placeless. It doesn’t have any character, can’t be described, can’t be perceived and can’t be measured. However, it generates perception, description and measurement.

(2) Another technique is to look at the outside world in terms of given relationship of place and time. How do you describe Pune as compared to London or Brazil or Oman? How do you describe earth as compared to Saturn or Uranus? How do you describe our solar system as compared to other stars and galazies? I am shifting the “positions” in space and each shift in position (combined with the change in the ‘scale’ of position - Pune to galaxy) reveals a particular place-time relation. With such repeated visualizations, one can understand, that there is no fixed relationship of place and time – in terms of physical event or even in terms of perception. Not only what we see in front of us is not constant, but we also tend to perceive things differently if located in different parts of the Universe!

In general, wherever we are located, the given place and time informs our character! We change as per our place and time!

Summarily, place and time constitutes an “Avataar”....a particular form of manifestation (external) and a particular form of perception (internal). Both – external as well as internal phenomena keep changing.

Thus, finally, we arrive at the concept of ‘measuring the phenomenon of Change’. The idea of measuring Change is nothing but Time.
