Perception/ Appetite

Perception is a force. Force is a physical name for a phenomenon of vibration which makes consciousness appear in a different way leading to a ‘form’. Meaning, force and matter are different states of consciousness. Each state has a property which makes it appear different. Each state is interlinked and the origin of all states is the same – which is ‘no motion’ or ‘stillness’. Each state is dependent on other states and each state catches certain signals specific to itself. Each state demands certain appetite to keep surviving and if the appetite is provided, it continues it’s existence eternally. Hence manifestation exists or feeds on its own appetite of motion/ vibration and relationships. The kind of appetite informs the nature of perception or the manner in which all forms and names appear to ‘us’.

The appetite of body is senses. It is the heaviest state of vibration. It is the body’s property and amounts to immediate gratification and pain. Should this be therefore practiced?

The appetite of mind is feelings/ perception and intellect. It is informed by the senses yet possesses a property of imagination to ‘alter’ the impact received from the senses. Thus thoughts modify the idea of pleasure, pain, impermanence, security, survival, memory and so on. There is flexibility in the potential of imagination. It may go towards the senses or withdraw and renounce the outward pull and direct it’s attention inward. It can also expand its purpose or desire (eclipse its desire) beyond any particular form. This leads it closer to consciousness. The mind mistakenly believes itself to be different and demands survival. What we call this tendency is “desire” to vibrate. This desire, first of all needs to be seen as it is – tendency (without giving it a derogatory meaning of any kind). In fact any kind of vibration should be seen as it is without personal attachment or evaluation or judgment. This achievement can then still our minds, else we remain trapped by certain preferences dictated by desires. The ability to “see” all vibrations for what they are (in terms of their inherent nature) is called non attachment. This comes from the power of intellect. By subjecting desires to intense scrutiny, mind may become consciousness.

So consciousness is a state of becoming or realizing. It is a state that is beyond manifestation (or manifestation is a shadow or projection of that state). By becoming consciousness, all vibrations and their representations of mind and body are dissolved. Meaning all perceptions and experiences or conceptions formed by mind and body are dissolved. The word “dissolved” means that the state of vibration no longer exists. There is no vibration to start with, there is no ‘home’ for that vibration, so there is no form to be generated, so there is no perception of any kind that has limitations.

What is perception? Perception has many variables. A set of variables define the ‘form’ – human being, animal, plant or a planet etc. In other words, a form can be described as a set of variables.

Another set of variables will describe the nature of ‘motion’ of thoughts generated by that form. So we think because we are human beings as compared to how an elephant may think and as compared to how a plant may think.

The above sets of variables define perception of manifestation. It is therefore logical to conclude that there are billion ways of perceiving things and who is to say that a particular way is better than other way? Who is to say that perception needs to be controlled? Who is to say that perception must guarantee security (and from what)?!! In all, perception seems to be an illusion and it cannot be resolved by mind or body. The only way is of transformation of illusion or vibration into a motionless state of consciousness.

This requires some systematic discipline and also opening up to the Grace of God. Things are not by chance (only) and neither are they an output of mere purpose. Since nothing can be guaranteed, it is an indicator of the nature of manifestation – of change.

In day to day life that will mean that things happen. How much of it should affect us, is our choice. Regardless of what we do or plan, things continue to happen. We can control things only to a certain extent, beyond that all things are to be accepted without any judgments. We are not answerable to anything and neither is the world to us. This doesn’t mean that the world is not worth trusting or exploring. The journey of the world is meant for one universal cause - of liberation. All things have their place – planning and spontaneity as an example. Both are required and both are two sides of the same coin. Certain people prefer either of the sides over the other and that does not make anybody more good or more bad than anyone else. Review of past actions or the excessive worry of future – both are misleading since manifestation is not absolute in its behaviour. Patience is required to understand what is happening within us and outside. Proof of existence or validity or values or motion is not required. Justification is also not required. What is required is peace of mind and that comes from understanding the Truth and Becoming!
