Shree: Trauma
Shree: Trauma
Why trauma is not
spoken is a mystery. To think of reality, differences, opinions, changes,
dependences, situations, incompleteness, impermanence someday is going to lead
to trauma or pain. No matter what the effort of control, grappling with
control, knowing about the self – it will lead to moments of pain and this
means this is a default and a necessary step in the evolution of the human
mind. Trials, struggles, internal conflicts, dilemmas, contradictions – all erupts
as vibrations or as the mind or as the signals received from the environment
and hence the requirement to make everything steady. Under what intentions things
happen is a mystery, nothing is sure and yet one is required to perform or
engage well. There are all sorts of vibrations that emerge and there is no
stopping or going away about the same and there is no control or even avoidance
or procrastination. There are compulsions to express what happens “inside” of
us and this happening is continuous and changeable and relational. This requires
acceptance.
If one sees any
situation of any scale – of an individual to a relationship to a human being to
an environment to a country – there are many unresolved thoughts that cause
pain and for which only listening is required, no justification or analysis or
resolution or solution. To “fix” pain is a mistake and worse still to label a
person as a”failure” because he/she expresses pain is a tragedy, for that silences
him/her even further.
An example of this distorted
attitude is about school success or even migration of people to make a better
life. Studies in oral histories will reveal that, be any people of society,
displacement to a new situation/ place may cause enormous disorientation of the
mind and the disorientation feeling can linger for many years. Why it comes and
at what time and to whom and where and when and how – only requires acceptance
and not ridiculing the person or expecting to latch on to the idea of “good
life” at whatever cost. The confirmation to remain “always happy” is a mistake
we commit and keep on endorsing and as will be known and is always acknowledged
in philosophy that mind wavers, it causes feelings and this is a very natural
process to happen.
The challenge is
about self acceptance – of the mind. Modern times have added additional burden
of performances, productions, approvals, confirmations, peak outputs, multitasking
without a murmur of breakdown. It is sacrilege to put it simply. One of the
biggest self created culprits is the idea of “individualism” wherein we remain
completely disconnected from all life forms and even one another and refuse to
just listen attentively by absorbing the mind and body with the other person. Listening may itself become a healing act of
connection beyond words. A “practical” problem is always cited about what it
does to accumulating “money”? And the answer is that just as creation asks for
no justification, listening attentively asks for any answers or justifications.
This is a profound experience that even money cannot offer. And if this can
become our default mode of being, then it will be revealed to us that existence
only is and one can become delightful in this without creating any burden on
the self.
