Shree: Fragmentation and architecture
Shree: Fragmentation and
architecture
Reliance on online media suggests
a disconnect of wholesome connections with physical space and time and further
with consciousness meaning of space and time. At the core is the meaning of
space and time that seems to get generated within us. From tribal architecture
wherein the space-time relationship started from the imagination of the cosmos
to ancestors to territories to geographies to people to climate to architecture
or the spiritual architecture of way of perceiving space-time dimensions of
connections, we have come all the way to community architecture to individual
driven architecture to the fragmentation of the individual.
The nature of online space is fast,
changing, disconnected, non sequential, spontaneous, microscopic, distorted and
so on. that shapes our perception too and hence the quality of architectural
spaces. One thing is sure – what or how one thinks or perceives, gets projected
as a quality of space ‘outside’. That being said, the truth is there is nothing
‘outside’ as an independent reality – all depends on the quality of the inner
world. If it is comprehensive, then we have something called as wholesome
architecture and if it not, what we end up is a very fragmented idea of a form
– already fragmented as a process, technology, consultants, output and so on.
The problem is defined by this
language of fragmentation or rupture of sorts and the solution is also in this
language – defined as further sequences of data or variables! Is that the
solution? Or slowing down the solution or suspending the problem in the mind
itself? Or just simple concentration?
