Thread of Thought
There are two dimensions of the mind. It goes without saying that mind is a force which is a property originating from consciousness itself and which is influenced from matter as well. So mind is a bridge connecting matter to consciousness OR making consciousness “visible” through matter/ manifestation. A vibration initiated in consciousness results in creation of matter that perceives or vibrates through the medium of force. Any matter perceives, else it will not exist – physically and psychologically too. In other words, existence depends on physical attributes and psychological attributes. Force cannot exist without matter and vice versa. Consciousness has to express itself through force and matter. Matter has to continue existing through perception, leading all the way to consciousness. In other words, consciousness communicates with consciousness through the web of force and matter, or, consciousness communicates through vibration. Any matter that is seen – be it ant or frog or tree or river or cloud or mountain or sun – is a phenomenon of space-force-matter. Matter is formed by some constraining characteristics implanted in consciousness and it is also “perceived” in some ways depending on how we choose to sense it.
This means that I receive only those signals that I have tuned myself to. I am a vibration of a particular kind that keeps perceiving and imagining reality (and therefore responding to the same). So a situation, its meaning, signals, memory, perception, matter, time, mental constructs are signals that I create for myself. If I change the signals or the nature of vibration, the reality will change definitely. Hence, one cannot answer the question if an external reality ever exists, or is there anything like an external reality! Reality exists as long as we believe so! Reality changes based on our own perception or vibration. I can either see a form or a force or consciousness – all are states of the same reality. The difference lies in our attachment to these states. Seeing everything as matter is more constraining as compared to force. Experiencing consciousness is the most liberating state of mind.
This is important to be understood since it indicates that there are boundaries on intellectual thought or feelings. The mystery of consciousness cannot only be known either by intellect or by feelings or by action – possibly ALL modes are required to be focussed in a disciplined manner.
We come back to the two dimensions of thought. Thought, by its nature, is fluid and is a dimension of consciousness (but in a different form). Nature of the mind is to keep moving and not remain stationary. So it goes from one object to other, from one idea to another, from one state of motion to another. In fact, “motion” of any kind may be said to be the default nature of thought. This causes action, brings in momentum and causes physical movement of objects and between objects. To maintain equipoise then, is to silence this momentum and bring it to rest. By silencing the mind, vibrations are altered, subtle waves are perceived and consciousness is revealed (or ‘we’ get transformed). Bliss is located in this state of Being. Either this is achieved through meditation or by concentrating on one activity. That we are inherently blissful doesn’t require any motion at all, or any compulsion to act or any desire or intent or motive or any kind of imagination or experience or situation. So why do we feel compelled to act and run? This probably is inevitable and thus, reminding ourselves of our true nature of blissfulness helps in formulating an appropriate perspective to our actions (fundamentally of non attachment and of fearlessness). As long as we exist as human beings (form) we keep vibrating and we need to maintain the experience of blissful state. Everyday, we seem to be engrossed and attracted by all possible forces of manifestations and we forget our own state of Being! This is the pull of manifestation. Whatever we think, we perceive and attract in our situations and hence, the first step will be to observe our own thoughts, our own words and our own actions. Whatever we say or do or think, creates an imprint or a vibration in our minds and takes us away from consciousness. Thus, meditation has a role to play which cannot be doubted or argued or evaluated by intellect or feelings. There is no purpose at all in trying to meditate and sit idle, yet it has to be done. At least this is the way I see things as of now.
So, if we look around (by our senses and body) and what we perceive, we are creating and experiencing a reality defined only by us. All changes, pleasures, pains, attachments - all come from the state of our mind. To maintain equipoise, a direct experience of the blissful conscious state is a must. To keep ourselves fresh, energetic, optimistic, unrestrained, uninhibited, trusting, faithful, loveable, the mind requires transforming into some moments of consciousness everyday.
