Perception

Every new day in our existence – we impress upon our minds certain things – all because of the nature of the mind itself (or the force or vibrations). This is summarily called – existence or perception of “motion”. In all the experiences we create, there are some that hint at freedom and there are some that hint at bondage or limitations. Since both of these experiences are created in a phenomenon called human being, it follows that both of these exist and can be reinforced depending on where or how one chooses to work on perception.

I write things because we create “knots” in our mind.  These take us away from our absolute nature and we harbor fear or doubt. The knots need to be removed everyday till none are created henceforth. This can be done by dissolving the ego or our attachment to mind-body (vibrations). Purpose or commitment or guilt or imaginations are all our constructs. The underlying reality behind all states of motion is consciousness that takes certain “forms” (because of our perception). The moment “we” are created, so is the Universe and so is God. Imagination and reasoning of God takes place through our human perception. Then we talk of ethics and morality and the ways in which we realize Godliness in us – by dissolving the crude stuff (ego or attachment).

I face this question many times in terms of why I write so much and why I read about God although I may not have realized any experience of Absolute Consciousness. I don’t know and I am not in a hurry to verbalize the reason behind “why”.

If the entire existence is about becoming, then one is only becoming aware of this process of transformation by efforts and trust.

As said by Shankara, Atman cannot be “removed” by reason or feelings or action. It is the Atman that is perceived as the relative knowledge of reason, feelings and action or perhaps these components are just superimposed on Atman, where in fact these do not exist! Whether something transforms or something is superimposed is a question best left unanswered. Both appear correct statements as well as limited by their scope. One can argue both ways but all this talking and expressing and defending do not lead one beyond a certain point. Realize the essence in oneself and the game is understood.

Every day we see variety, we see confusion, we are compelled to respond – all this is motion. Every day we also experience peace and know that all this running around has got limited value since everything is a construct. I don’t think that there is any rest in this pendulum of experiences. At best, we are trying to become a state of non motion for a longer period of time.

Thus, chanting certain words, remembering certain thoughts, feeling, actions, deploying intellect for this purpose are tools we should use to realize this state.

The most powerful thought one can harbor is: whether I realize a state or not, whether I can argue or not, whether I shout or remain silent, whether I work or don’t work – God exists. And whatever we experience, is all because of this phenomenon.
