Useless proposition
One can keep thinking and endorsing a particular line of thought – desire. This desire can either make one more entangled with the world or disengage one with the world. In other words, desire is vibration (in motion) and potential (in stillness). The manner in which we perceive the world and respond to the same either fuels the desire or extinguishes it. So desire is said to exist, if it is instigated. For humans (as well as other life forms I guess), desire is instigated by ego. I consider myself as different from others (either a fox or lion or ant or hyena or a human) and hence this belief sustains desire and vice versa. It is funny that we talk of start point (cause) that leads to something (effect), but in reality one can start anywhere in the manifested word and go anywhere. To search for a start point and an end point in manifested world is a futile expectation - we believe that we are going from one point of perception of space-time to another (as riding a horse or a car or whatever you wish to call that vehicle). However eventually we may realize that motion is relative/ subject to our awareness of state of existence. Motion is apparent and we really do not go anywhere from a point here or there and we are always at rest. Motion is only apparent. The vehicles (mind and body) may keep changing like new clothes or dresses but that is only an illusion. Nothing really changes or comes and goes. All is eternally present in a single moment of time. Consciousness therefore makes motion apparent (or that’s its potential). It appears in motion for those who kick start a desire and it will present to you billions of puzzles to get entangled with! For those who become fed up with this entanglement, consciousness cannot fool them and they and consciousness become one.
Above may seem as high philosophy but it has to be practiced in each moment, at each scale and in any situation or a state of motion in the manifested world. It is useless to try and think of a solution to problems of people’s differential attitudes and identify ourselves with those. It is useless to ask questions about causes and effects and what can control them. It is useless to take things very personally and be entangled in it to solve issues. We do not do anything to this world. The world is not us and we are not the world. By being here, we are not making any ounce of difference to anything except maybe adding to some kind of motion and subtracting something somewhere. By defining our purpose or saying that we are here because we need to help something or contribute something is a nonsensical proposition. What are you and me or anybody else? It’s all noise in the mind! We are nothing as compared to the grand Actor whose presence creates and sustains the whole world! Logic has got enormous limitations – the chief amongst them is the rascal ego; the craze to find the authentic starting point; and the emphasis on problem solving capacity. None of this ever leads us to God. We do not create any problem by being here and neither do we solve anything. All things just seem apparently real to us, since we have crafted the story of motion. How ridiculous is that! Now poets may say that as imagination, social scientists may term it as constructs and philosophers realize it as illusion! The chief thing that intellect must learn is to surrender its capacity to God. This translates into a self talk about subtracting the ego; doing work for all without any ulterior motive and to keep focusing on work.
So let things be as they are – do not attempt to think that it needs to be controlled or refined. Let things come the way they should and let them also dissolve or go away whenever they have to go. To seek or to avoid is not necessary. All is only intent. Stillness is in you. Have comfort in its realization.
