The origin of pain or irritation is not known, although pain is a profound emotion that suggests empathy or connection or relationships. Irritation is ego and the false illusion of control. Nothing is absolutely true and final in the phenomenal world. By this, it also means that there is no definite start or an end point to anything and nothing can be separately extracted. This can be frustrating for the intellect or it can be liberating if the thought is understood as 'what makes or creates an experience of being in the phenomenal world?'....
Phenomenal world is a state of existence and is created from consciousness. So there are states and subtle forces that are related or connected to create the self and the pattern of thoughts that get created therefore and the cycle of thoughts that create an experience. Everything is a 'force' that 'becomes' and creates 'awareness'. So _what_ lives? Does the body live or the mind or the force?
Another word for force is 'vibration'. The property of consciousness is to 'vibrate'. And this means to become, create, to be a force, intermingle, cause a movement, appear, disappear, related, connect, split, combine, cause a mind, sense a body, sense awareness, create 'i' and so on.
The effect of vibrations (or the simple fact that there is consciousness) raises the entire nature of the phenomenal world of forces and forms and imagination, which entirely *depend* on consciousness and create an *experience* (imagination) of duality and it's engagement....
So is the state of affairs!
