Traditions and histories are _relation forming concepts_ with the now. 

It is not necessary to start knowing a relationship in that way. 

Another kind of relationship starts with engaging with 'now' and realizing connections with histories or traditions...which is also fine. 

An architectural thought 'spreads and connects' and isn't required to be handed down as a precedent or a successor to anything that might have happened before. In such a case, the architectural thought is unconcerned with a defined forward movement or building on above something else. 

Bottomline is of connections..how does one realize it? 

A _history_ as an undertaking seems irrelevant. All is present only in the 'now' as connection seeking need.
