Space is consciousness/existence. That is, it is a form of expression and experience of existence. We can connect or relate to consciousness/ existence _through_ a spatial phenomenon. Therefore space affects us and we project and experience spatially. Therefore consciousness, experience and space seem to be the same. 

When one talks of space, possibly one is expected to talk about the above mentioned relationship. The understanding of space possibly may appear incomplete, if experience and consciousness is not spoken about. 

Hence someone working with space, the engagement required is far more fundamental that what meets the eye.
