Problematic means to _internalise_ the dilemma and create architecture. Therefore problematic should mean synthesis. All good architecture could be an honest attempt to problematise issues. Should it _explicitly_ convey synthesis? I don't think so. Internalisation occurs nevertheless and in that process, unique or mysterious relationships get revealed. 

Experience of space, history, context, continuity, analysis, decision - may or may not converge at a point and may not be even possible to justify their relationships. Above layers form a critique of architecture. But design may refer to one of above, or all or even more than above, who knows?!!
