Shree: Distance

Shree: Distance

no privateness can exist without its relation or connection or awareness with publicness. if we look at any dimension of existence from thoughts to feelings to architecture to environment - this idea is prevalent - one thinks from collective feelings and at the same time ensures one's private obligations. however, the idea of universal value existing in all forms cannot be ignored or left to oblivion and if that seems to happen, then the private itself gets harmed.

this brings to the forefront existence of connections, patterns, continuity and change, activities, sharing, silence, feelings, public spaces and their role, sense of connect through bodily perceptions and so on. and therefore architecturally how should form and setting be done to support the feeling of connections?

this also gets related to the idea of perception through intellect alone and the physical distance. the relationship simply can be stated as more the distance between any two places, more is the reliance in intellect to deal with one another. lesser the distance, more is the reliance on feelings. more the distance, more is the role of consumption, less on debate or discussions or understanding, more on isolation, more on privacy, more on individualism, more on anxiety, more on self gratification. more on advertisement and so on. so much can be tied with "distance".

philosophically the relationship is not that straight forward. by increasing our "reliance on intellect  or logic" there is a chasm or separation between any two phenomenon regardless of whatever physical proximity there might exist between the two. similarly, if one relies on vibrations or soul, then physical distance does not  matter at all/ it does not exist.

hence one should consider where global things are taking us  - nearer to one another or farther away?
