 Shree: Conversations with Gauri – 14.10.25

There is a cyclic association with an idea till it rolls over into something else and the cycle repeats as a momentum. Take invention of any action, any concept, any tool, any product, any system. One starts with hypothesis, then fascination, then engagement, then realizing limitation, then criticality of the same idea and then inventing something else - maybe as a progress from the earlier idea itself.

 Architecturally we had the modern movement of 1920 to 1940, then post war scenarios, global application of ideology, inputs of capitalism and commercial interests and the backlash to other movements. I think this is a human tendency - much said as an idea diagram of Yin and Yang and maybe even in other cultures as well. Therefore, the component of Newness has an aspect of Tradition (the loop completes) and the aspect of tradition has the seed of Newness to keep marching ahead.

 Therefore, the consciousness has a loop and a line “together” and that is probably what Existence is. Both the line and the loop tendencies are at play at the same time and implicitly connected in the mind. 

Therefore, there are inquiries of appropriate progress and at the same time of continuation and of universal or fundamental ‘Truths”. Both of such inquiries would exist at the same time and compliment one another.

 Can we therefore see history and culture from that manner. And even environment and architecture?
